Evaluation of Educational Materials in the Digital Game Industry in Terms of Measurement and Evaluation Methods (110098)

Objective: This research aimed to evaluate the measurement and evaluation methods of educational materials in the digital game industry.
Methods: Academic databases were searched using Web of Science and Scopus, employing semiotic and content analysis methods. The use of educational materials in terms of measurement and evaluation was assessed using SWOT analysis.
Results: Results showed that the strongest aspect of educational materials in digital games is their ability to provide big data and obtain reliable, real-time data for measurement and evaluation. Their weakness is the imitation of co-founders due to a lack of relevant literature and field experience. Opportunities lie in the compatibility of new game models and measurement methods with big data analysis methods. Threats primarily stem from manipulation by external actors and incompatibility between content and measurement methods. According to the SWOT analysis results, digital games generally offer great opportunities for measuring and evaluating educational materials, but more field research and academic studies are needed in this area. Conclusion: While the use of educational materials in the game industry provides significant data collection opportunities for measurement and evaluation, offering big data, the open-source nature of big data and the differences in game content make it susceptible to manipulation by external actors within the sector. Therefore, it can be argued that in order for digital games to yield maximum benefit in terms of measurement and evaluation in educational materials, a multidisciplinary approach is necessary, encompassing everything from game design and pedagogical content to industrial policies and data security.
