We are delighted to announce the recipients of IAFOR grants and scholarships for The 14th European Conference on Education (ECE2026) to be held in London, United Kingdom between July 9-13, 2026.
In total, we received 134 scholarship applications.
Launched in 2016, IAFOR’s grants and scholarships programme provides financial support to PhD students and early career academics, with the aim of helping them pursue research excellence and achieve their academic goals through interdisciplinary study and interaction.

Dr Gamze Erdem Coşgun is currently an assistant professor at Amasya University in Turkey. She received her bachelor’s degree in ELT from Boğaziçi University, and her MA and PhD degree in ELT from Middle East Technical University. Her research interests include English language teacher education, technology, teacher identity, and professional development.
Malak Kanaan, Arts et Métiers Institution, France (Virtual Presentation)
107342 | Towards Immersive Training for Inclusive Education: Co-designing a Virtual Reality Application for Educators
Ms Malak Kanaan is a PhD candidate in educational technologies and inclusive education, conducting a CIFRE doctoral research project in collaboration with Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology (France), Lorraine University and the EdTech company I-MagineR. Her research focuses on the design and evaluation of virtual reality training to support inclusive teacher education, with a particular emphasis on supporting learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Her work follows a Design-Based Research approach, combining a systematic literature review, questionnaires, interviews, and co-design workshops with teachers and trainers. She is currently developing and evaluating an immersive virtual reality training environment integrating pedagogical feedback mechanisms to foster inclusive practices. Her research interests include immersive learning, teacher professional development, accessibility, inclusion, and the pedagogical use of virtual reality.
Khethokwakhe Goodman Chonco, Stadio Higher Education, South Africa (Live-Stream Presentation)

Mr Khethokwakhe Goodman Chonco is an Academic Manager and Lecturer in the School of Education (Distance Learning) at STADIO Higher Education, where he oversees postgraduate programmes including the PGCE, Advanced Diploma in Technical and Vocational Teaching, and BEd Honours qualifications. He holds a Master of Education in Adult Education and is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree through UNISA, focusing on the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching and learning within South African Adult Basic Education and Training. With more than fourteen years of academic and managerial experience in the TVET and higher education sectors, Khethokwakhe has served as a lecturer, module coordinator, curriculum developer, external moderator, national examiner, and critical reader. His professional work spans adult learning, vocational education, distance learning, and assessment quality assurance. His research interests include ICT integration, digital and flexible learning models, adult education, and the professionalisation of vocational educators.
About IAFOR’s Grants and Scholarships
IAFOR is dedicated to helping young scholars achieve their research and academic goals, while also encouraging them to apply the principles of interdisciplinary study to their work. IAFOR offers travel and accommodation grants as well as full or partial scholarships covering conference registration fees to PhD students and early career academics who might not otherwise have the financial resources to be able to attend our academic conferences.
Awards are based on the appropriateness of the educational opportunity in relation to the applicant’s field of study, financial need, and contributions to their community and to IAFOR’s mission of interdisciplinarity. Scholarships will be awarded based on availability of funds from IAFOR and will vary with each conference. The Programme Committee of the relevant IAFOR conference will award scholarships to eligible applicants with exceptional abstracts accepted for presentation following the blind peer review process.

2026 Grants and Scholarships
Grants and scholarships are still available for IAFOR conferences with open abstract submission deadlines. If you are eligible for an IAFOR grant or scholarship and would like to be considered, please submit your abstract to the conference you would like to attend and select the checkbox for the relevant award during the submission process.
